“New Ideas for Crafting Heritage Albums” is an excellent book for any adults (or particularly creatively inclined children) who are looking for a long-term project which will be cherished for
generations. This is not your average scrapbooking how-to guide, but rather an in depth discovery of different ways to preserve a family’s unique history.
There are many pages of advice on how to preserve and display three dimensional objects rather than just photos. The author, Kirschner Braun, researches a range of technique used by coin collectors and other hobbyists to come up with new and innovative ways to create your album. This book is sort of like the second generation of her previous crafting book “Crafting Your Own Heritage”. In “New Ideas for Crafting Heritage Albums” Braun puts more of a focus on overall layout of the album and different effective techniques for incorporating keepsakes and photos to keep the pages balanced. The pictures in the book are beautiful and all the inspiration a person needs to get going on a family heritage album they have been procrastinating making.
Creating a family heritage album may seem overwhelming to most people but can often be a very rewarding experience. An album like this is a perfect “bite-size” way to show young children or grandchildren a little about their past and ancestors in a way that is so artistic and easy to view it won’t lose people’s (or even kids’) interests. This book is a great place to start getting ideas and collecting memorabilia to create a family treasure.
