"Cowl Girls" by Cathy Carron

Cowls were kind of my thing this year, so I was intrigued to receive this book as a Christmas gift.  (I recently learned another advantage of cowls over scarves: they stay put in windy weather!)

This is a big softcover book, with a lot of big cozy cowls.  My overall impression of the patterns is that they are largely geared towards younger knitters who want quick results, have some decent skills, and fashion-wise are willing to experiment with bold shapes and colors.

It deliberately plays loose with the term "cowl," expanding the term to mean just about anything small that you wrap around your neck or head - including hoods, snoods, and even a decorative knit necklace.
